About this Course

The University of Neighbourhoods Association (UNA) is currently seeking passionate, active, and creative individuals to be Summer Camp Volunteers. ********************** Deadline to Apply: Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:59 PM (You will be emailed if you have been selected as a Summer Camp Volunteer) ********************** Commitment Details: MANDATORY Summer Camp Volunteer Orientation on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 330-430pm Scheduled weekly, depending on availability, from July 2 until week of August 26, 2024 Hours: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm Location: Wesbrook Community Centre Summer Camp Description: Ignite your inner adventurer at Summer Adventures Camp! Campers can expect team games, sports, arts and crafts, science experiments, playground time and more! Adventurers will explore the UBC area on out-trips to locations like Pacific Spirit Park, local playgrounds, and more. There will be 3 groups of campers, 2 for campers ages 5-8, and 1 for campers ages 9-11. For more information, check out: https://www.myuna.ca/camps/ Who are we looking for: - Be an UNA member https://www.myuna.ca/una-account/ - Dependable: Arrive on time and be present and ready to go - Positive Attitude: You will be working closely with kids between the ages of 5-8 , and 9-11, and you will be involved in a variety of activities, including icebreakers, crafts, sports, and out trips - Experience working with children: You have experience tutoring, being a reading buddy, teaching, coaching, or other leadership experiences. You like to work in group settings and have the ability to solve problems. - In a support role at camp, a volunteer should: Maintain a positive attitude at all times and assist the UNA Camp Leader with setup and cleanup of camp facilities and help with campers
