This session is designed for newcomers and will include a guided tour starting at the Wesbrook Community Center. Participants will learn to identify some plants and animals that live in Pacific Spirit Regional Park and learn how the animals use the forest for homes and food. This will be learned by doing hands-on activities including practicing to use identification cards, smelling different plants, and handling specimens from our collection (furs, skulls). Participants will be told information about how to safely explore the trails, some traditional uses of certain plants by local indigenous peoples, about how the park improves life for people that visit it while also protecting nature. Participants can expect to walk up to 1.3 km.
