Take part in the research project Roots & Routes: Papermaking as a Community Learning Practice by participating in a free, collaborative 2-part papermaking workshop using recycled paper sourced from the community and embedding meaningful materials. Through tactile making, shared reflection, and conversation, the workshop explores themes of migration, storytelling, identity, care, and belonging within a collective creative setting. Participants are welcome, but not required, to bring flat objects that are meaningful to them and connected to where they are from. This may include, but is not limited to: letters, maps, poems, stories, photographs printed on copy paper, documents without personal or official identification numbers, seeds, dried flowers from your garden, tea or spices of personal significance, scents, or similar materials. No prior art experience needed. * Please note that the workshop is specifically seeking participants who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, relocating from another city or country to Vancouver, or who are temporarily living here. Intermediate English is recommended. * Participation in both sessions is strongly encouraged.  Please inform us in advance if you cannot attend the second workshop. About the artist: Yasaman Moussavi is an artist and art educator leading this workshop. She is a PhD candidate in Art Education at the University of British Columbia. Yasaman has been working as an art instructor with UNA since 2021. Consent & Documentation Notice Please note that this workshop will be documented as part of a research project.
